RG3 To Have Surgery On Torn LCL, With ACL Condition To Be Determined: REPORTS: via HuffPost http://huff.to/Vc8bbq This is a case where the coach has to pull the plug for the good of everybody. Competitive players tend to get tunnel vision. People without high pain resistance won’t even make it to college football. If you have somebody going to the playoffs on a huge win streak they want to play. It’s all they’ve worked for. The players don’t know what happens next year. Maybe there are key injuries, maybe there are problems with chemistry. So they want it now. But the backup must have been ok for them to get there. A quarterback is going to find it especially hard to bail. If he sits voluntarily he may be making a decision for everyone. He isn’t going to be able to look anybody in the eye again unless he has no choice. So somebody in management has to be prepared to be the bad guy and make that choice. You don’t risk somebody that could be the franchise player for one postseason where you are a longshot.
