Alan Turing and the Five Sigma Theory of Progress

Alan Turing and the Five Sigma Theory of Progress – http://huff.to/1w5RL6A

Meh. At that probability there would be around 2100 “five sigma” people around in the world.  To us 6-7 sigma types they just look like ants milling about.

Also I’ve got to roll my eyes at the IQ references.   Turing is a good illustration of why “IQ” is nearly irrelevent.

IQ just measures the ability to produce conventional answers really quickly.

Turing’s ability to disregard convention and come up with his own answers over a long period was his strong suit.

In that regard his homosexuality was probably a greater asset than his IQ.  IQ is robotic function, not intellectual function. He was more naturally inclined to break with convention.
