Extradition treaties aren’t the first thing that goes with diplomatic relations, closer to the last.

So again why is Cuba being treated uniquely when they’re not a threat and haven’t been since the missile crisis.

Extradition treaties are also always symmetrical and Christie and others should think about that, it means if Cuba demands “refugees” back to face trial, the US would have to comply.

Exile is another kind of prison and right now that’s on their coin, not ours if the state is paying for her needs.  She’s effectively got a life sentence but the taxpayers don’t have to pay anything unless she comes back.

If there is extradition that means deporting people to Cuba on even weak evidence with no control over the outcome.

That’s why extradition is one of the last things to come with diplomatic relations.  Both sides have to have strong faith in the institutions of the other.
