This is more like proving a negative now.

So studies showed no harm and the answer is, well maybe they were wrong.

Ultimately, who cares.  It’s not a physical risk, the issue is people might get emotionally worked up.

By the same rationale of those who oppose disseminating truth, I suppose a doctor that discovers a patient has terminal cancer should convince him as long as possible that he just has chronic indigestion, so he won’t feel bad.

The highest legal expectation in medicine isn’t “do no harm”, it’s “tell the truth”.

The patient owns the right to make medical decisions about his body, including if he chooses, ones a doctor might view as not the best choice.

The information gained might affect health decisions if a risk factor is found, such as watching earlier for possible signs of dementia and choosing diet and lifestyle to mitigate risks.

If doctors are looking for something to ban, how about say purely elective cosmetic surgery, like breast implants for vanity rather than reconstruction.  Those create a serious risk of harm with no possible health benefit.  They look ugly too, just a waste of money.

The established tests for risk factors are real, this isn’t something absurd like the shark cartilege fad.

The results will modify behaviour, potentially affecting the outcome of future diseases of those who take the tests, 20 or 30 years from now.  Nobody can know the actual net effect until we see those outcomes.

In the meantime there is no ethical or constitutional basis for restricting access to genuine information that is relevant to managing one’s health.
