The ideal is to pick a relatively stable stretch of three weeks or more because it takes around that long to form a good habit so it sticks.

New Years is a generally bad time, right after you have to get back in rythme at work, cut off the eating and drinking from the holidays so they don’t become bad habits, it’s not a great time to add one more thing, let alone a laundry list.

When life is flowing well though it’s not hard to change one thing and stick to it for a few weeks.
